Under Construction

We are back and better than ever. At least I think so...

As you can see, things have changed and major update is now complete.

Template is wider so that it is easier to read the graphs, easier to use with iPads, colors make reading easier etc... For example, one of the header fonts is called Eurostile, font used by BMW.

Few words about the M3Help and ECUHelp search systems and how to use. When search screen is entered, all results are shown as shown below. You can then simply filter the results by typing the words you are looking for into Category and Issue fields. If you want to see the details, check the checkmark and press View.

I hope you like the desing and is easier to use. If you don't like something, just let me know.

Bathurst 1000 - The Great Race: Australian V8 series races have been in TV for a while. Have been watching it now and then but it really hasn’t spiked my

interest. Last weekend SpeedTV showed the Bathurst 1000 live and was announced by D.W. and Mike Joy. In my opinion they did Great job and brought it home for US audience. This was obviously done in preparation to the 2012 Austin race. Another question is if the track is ready, somehow it reminds me of the USF1…
What comes to the race itself, it was very entertaining, but somehow I feel the end was scripted. Similar to every historically important Earnhardt race where the car #3 or his son, Jr. suddenly wins.

F1: First, I was wrong about Kovalainen and where he might end up. My prediction was Force India but instead he continues with Lotus. Good luck Heikki.

Congratulations to Mr. Vettel, soon you will have another championship in the bag. Just don’t loose it like Schumi did in 1997. From the beginning it has been very clear that he will be an exceptional driver. He showed his skills with BMW and then with Toro Rosso. So far he has been the only driver being able to win with it. Well done and good luck for next year. In my opinion Red Bull has been concentrating to next season already and will now focus to create a new winner for next year.

Things at McLaren are changing as well. Button is now clearly the #1 driver having just signed his new multi-year contract. Hamilton is out of control at the moment and needs to calm down.

Alonso was a surprise, he drove pretty well.

NASCAR:
It is no secret that I’m a Jimmy Johnson fan. For me this is quite simple, as a 6-time NASCAR champion he is the best driver ever, period, end of discussion.

Yes, at least 6-time, he will win again this year and might win even more championships. But, is it just so that Jimmy is so good or is it the team? Reality is that you are as good as your worst part in your team is. It might just be that he is lucky to be in the right team with the right crew chief at the right time.

Kimi:
Last night at wind tunnel Bob and Dave speculated if Kimi will end up at Williams. I also believe it will happen. I believe Kimi will be disappointed again due to uncompetitive car. They will have good Renault engines and better engineering so basics are good. But Williams will start pretty much from scratch, like Lotus. Also do they have their priorities right since are involved with Jaguar.

Semi-Surface Discharge Plug Champion QA55V spark plugs

Semi-Surface Discharge Plug Champion QA55V spark plugs

For a while now I have been using traditional NGK DR7EA plugs. These are great and cheap plugs, but other types of plugs are available as well. Below are some pictures from NGK manual and recommended applications:

Just for fun, I thought to try out these Semi-surface discharge plugs. These plugs are typically used in high rpm applications and were used in race M3 engines.

Spark plug is Champion QA55V, mainly used in Ducati bikes.Heat range 11, so this is a very cold plug.

Common statement is that these spark plugs are prone to foul and therefore were used after the engine was warmed up with other plugs. Since my car is equipped with Autronic SM4, I can tune the warmup mixture as I like. So, I thought to give it a try. I have been using the plugs for 5 months now and haven’t seen any issues at all, no single fouling incident and engine runs much better.

Verdict: Highly recommended.
