SPAL Fan Installation
US cars were fitted from the factory with A/C, mechanical fan with clutch and AUX fan. My mechanical fan was removed about 2 years ago, together with A/C. AUX fan was installed by using European AUX fan parts.
But, old fan is heavy, uses a lot of current and is in front of the radiator. So, I decided to replace the fan with modern setup. New SPAL fan uses much less current than original OEM fan and is installed after the radiator. No wiring changes are needed, just connect it where the old fan was connected. You can also manually turn the fan on using the A/C button.

Needed parts:
SPAL fan 13” Pull fan 30100398
I decided to use original fan shroud mounting screws to mount the fan. To do this, I had to make brackets as shown in the picture.

Installation is very easy, just bolt it in. I used the shroud to get air drawn thru the fan also from the sides, since the fan is smaller than the radiator.
Here is finished installation, looks clean and works very well. Draws much less current (<7A), is silent and cools the engine well. Fan speed is also controlled now by Autronic ECU depending on the engine coolant temperature.

Total project cost, parts: $60
