Idle Control using solenoid and Autronic SM4

For a while now I have been thinking how I would be able to get rid of the ICV valve and still have the idle control.

By removing the ICV valve I can get rid of the complicated plumbing, remove some weight and also increase engine vacuum.
Only time I actually need idle control is during warmup; after engine is warm, I don’t need to have it since there is no AC.
Then I thought, why not just use a solenoid to pull the throttle open a little?

Idle is adjusted by changing the length of the cable. Throttle is opened 1.2%, which gives about 1200rpm idle.
Solenoid is pulled when coolant temp is below 60 degrees or intake temp is above 60 degrees to reduce the
heat soak as fast as possible. Solenoid is connected directly to SM4 output3 and GPC11.

I have been running this now for a month and it works great.
