ECU Comparison, Why this was done?

Reason why this ECU comparison was done that there is not any good data or way to compare ecu’s. Manufacturers give their data in different methods since their features are different and are marketing towards different customers.

The data has been compiled from the data available on different sources and ecu manufacturers themselves verified some data.

This is just a tool and it is not intended to give you a definite answer. Intention is to give you a rough idea, final decision should be made by studying the manual and complete spec sheet.

If you see an error on the data, please let me know and I will correct.

But, how to choose an ECU?

It is impossible to give a clear answer; it all depends on what you want and what features are important for you.

A $30k Bosch ECU really does not make sense for a track car, Megasquirt really does not cut it for WRC rally car. For F1 team, $30k ECU is not a problem.

Similar price does not quarantee that ECU’s have similar features. Data logging can be an optional in one, standard in other.

Then both devices might have data logging built-in but there might be a huge difference in functionality.

 

How to use the pages?

Take a piece of paper and write there your budget. Then write down the important features for you and read the ECU Glossary. Use the website by selecting the price range and go thru the list.

This give you an idea what you can get with the budget you have. If you are missing the features, you want increase the price range and see how much more you have to spend.

Best way to use the data is to select the features you are interested in from the menu. After that you can filter by manufacturer or with the price range you are interested in.

Table values can be sorted also by selecting the column headers. After you have selected the ones you are interested in, download the datalog and tuning sw. Links page has the links to most of the providers. Last, read all you can find from the Internet.
