24/04/2010: Autronic SM4 is still running strong. Here are my current dwell settings. I have been running Honda coils now for 2 years without any issues.

11/28/2008:Earlier this week I finally went to dyno to tune the WOT part. We got it tuned up to 5000 rpm, after that we had misfires and weren't able to finish the tuning. Made two pulls, best one turned out 208 hp from wheels, which was pretty good. Final power should be around 300 when all is done.Started to investigate the issue today and made some ignition pulse measurements today. I was using 2.2mS which I got from another person using same coils. Turned out 2.2 is very conservative and coils are not charged fully. With 12V, I'm going to use 3mS dwell. Below you can see the graph what the ignition pulse and coil charging looks like:

11/18/2008: Dash2 display is now installed. Read about it from here

11/04/2008: Traction control, launch control and WOT shifting are now operational and working.

10/05/2006: Traction control installation started. Found away to get the signals from ABS ECU directly to Autronic SM4. See ReadMore to see the signal type from the point and VR sensor output. AlsoSchematic is included where the signal is taken. Eventhough this issafe, I'm not responsible if you use this and something happens. Use at your own risk!

09/16/2008:Serpentine pulleys installed with new triggers. Signal strong, 2mm gap is fine. Adjusted to 1mm to be safe.

09/10/2008:Camshaft sensor installation finalized. Cover from S38 used and is a direct fit and cheap.

09/02/2008: Car passed emissions (USA, Washington state) today with Autronic and rebuilt engine with 292 cams.

08/18/2008: Car starts, idles and is very responsive with Autronic. Sequential injection makes a huge difference and together with 50mm trhottle bodies it works really well. Everything works now, evaporative valve, even OBC fuel consumption meter. Honda S2000 coils also work perfectly. Overall very good device and worth every penny.

Difference to Hestec is like night and day, only grief is that I made the change 2 years too late.

08/10/2008: All well, car was driven on the street for the first time. I have to say this Autotune is simply amazing and a real timesaver. All you have to do is drive and map is tuned. Well, not quite normal driving though. You need to try and drive so that load and rpm's won't change too much so that Autronic can measure the AFR.

Everything works, tacho, OBC (Requires some tuning though), idle speed control.

08/06/2008: Amazing, it started at first try. Coils work perfectly. select Read More to see pictures how they fit.

Tuning to start tomorrow, should be easy since Autronic has the Autotune...

08/02/2008:

ECU and car went alive today. All sensors work, fuel pump powers on etc... ECU connects to PC no problems. Start map loaded.

Engine should start wednesday.

07/12/2008: Project started

It's time to say goodbye to Hestec. It has worked well but it is time for it to go and be replaced with something new and hopefully better. I chose to use Autronic SM4 ecu which is quite well known and good system. Other contender was Vi-Pec. Vi-Pec wasn't chosen since it is fairly new and unknown system. It looks the same as Link devices and most likely made from that one.

Main reasons why Autronic SM4 was selected:

- Ignition Timing accuracy

- Direct connect to Race-Technology DL1 data logger

- Autotune. Feature can be used to tune the fuel maps automatically while car is driven.

- Online editing of maps. One of the biggest misses with Hestec is that you have to turn off the car and start again to modify setting.

My setup will be as follows:

- Direct ignition with Coil on Plugs. Honda S2000 COP's

- 0 - 12 Falling edge DWELL

- Full Sequential setup (Both Injection and Ignition are sequential)

- Cylinder pulses (CRANK)

- Honeywell GT101 Hall type sensor, Rising edge used in settings

- 2 pulses/rev

- timing 60 BTDC

- SYNC (Camshaft):

- Honeywell GT101 Hall type Sensor, Rising edge used

- 1 pulse/rev

- Fitted to exhaust cam.

- Pulse sensed from longer camshaft bolt. Other bolts stainless steel, so there won't be a pulse from those.

- Camshaft cover plug from S38 engine, Direct fit.

- Data logging: Internal SM4 and DL1

- PLX SM-AFR Wideband for tuning with Autotune

- NB O2 sensor

- Knock detection

- Stock idle setup via 2-wire Bosch valve

- Traction control
